The legendary will only Roar if it can’t run. However, in Trainer battles, Roar will always fail if used before the opponent has made its move. Roar’s chance to fail does not apply to Trainer battles. Furthermore, as a normal-type move, Ghost-types are unable to be affected by Yawn the same way Dark types are unaffected by Hypnosis. However, like the confused status, the ‘Drowsy’ status Yawn causes is easily cured by simply switching out. Passive moves like roar still affect ghosts just as confuse ray still works on normal types. Ghost types are only immune to direct attacking normal attacks like double edge, or main status moves like using thunder wave against a ground type. Glare is normal type, but it does effect ghost types, leer affects them so it makes sense that other non-damaging normal moves would as well. Glare can also be used as part of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining an extra appeal point if move Leer was used in the prior turn. Glare now does not affect Ghost-type Pokémon, unless the Ghost-type Pokémon is affected by Foresight or Odor Sleuth.
